Article 2: FBCA Highlights Beverage Carton Recycling at PRSE 2025
On 1 and 2 April 2025, The Food and Beverage Carton Alliance (FBCA), the voice of the European beverage carton industry, participated in the Plastics Recycling Show Europe (PRSE) in Amsterdam. This leading trade fair brings together companies, recyclers, policymakers, and technology providers from across the plastics and composite recycling value chain for two days of knowledge sharing and solution-focused discussions.
FBCA engaged with visitors and highlighted how food and beverage cartons, made from high-quality paper fibres and PolyAl, can become an important source of new materials, provided they are collected correctly. Discussions emphasized the need for continued investment in collection and recycling infrastructure at both the European and local levels.
Several PolyAl recycling companies joined FBCA at its stand to showcase concrete innovations in beverage carton recycling, including Paulurec, Saperatec, Recon Polymers, Trans Sabater, Plastigram, and Ecorevive. Their participation demonstrated the vital role of specialised recyclers in transforming composite materials into valuable new products, such as flower pots, crates, transport pallets, and even the interior trim of a Fiat Panda—powerful examples of innovation and collaboration in action.
Members of ACE Belgium (Elopak, SIG, and Tetra Pak) were also present, alongside partners such as Billerud and Stora Enso. Together, they highlighted their shared commitment to a circular economy through innovation and low-carbon packaging solutions.
